BeatStars Upload Requirements (2026): Files, Formats & Checklist
Every file BeatStars asks for when you upload a beat: untagged WAV/MP3, tagged MP3, stems, cover art and metadata. Exact formats, plus a checklist to upload faster.
BeatStars Upload Requirements: Everything You Need Before You Click "Add Track"
Uploading a beat to BeatStars is easy once your files are ready. Most failed or slow uploads come from the same thing: a missing file or the wrong format. Here is exactly what BeatStars asks for, based on BeatStars' own documentation.
The short answer
| File | Format | Used for |
| Untagged audio | WAV (16 to 32-bit, up to 48 kHz) or MP3 | What buyers download |
| Tagged preview | MP3, 128 to 320 kbps | What the public hears |
| Stems / trackouts | WAV files (16 to 32-bit, up to 48 kHz) in one .zip | Trackout and exclusive licenses |
| Artwork | Square image | Store, player, buyer download |
1. Untagged WAV or MP3
This is the clean version of your beat, with no voice tag. Buyers receive it after a purchase. BeatStars accepts WAV files from 16 to 32-bit, up to 48 kHz. Export WAV whenever you can: it keeps the full quality of your mix, and buyers who pay for premium licenses expect it.
Tip: if you upload more than one file of the same type (two WAVs for example), BeatStars asks you which one is the main untagged file. Name your files clearly to avoid mistakes.
2. Tagged MP3 preview
The tagged MP3 is what people hear on your store. It carries your producer tag so your beat can't be ripped for free. BeatStars accepts 128 to 320 kbps. If you don't have a tag yet, BeatStars Studio can add a custom voice tag for you.
3. Stems (trackouts)
Stems are each instrument exported separately: drums, bass, melody, FX. Zip them into one file. BeatStars recommends 44.1 kHz WAV at 24-bit or higher, because engineers want room to mix.
Important: stem uploads are only available on BeatStars' paid Growth and Professional plans.
4. Artwork
Use a square image that matches your brand. Consistent covers make your catalog recognizable in the marketplace grid. BeatStars also has a Canva integration under "Artwork Image" if you design there.
5. Metadata: title, tags, genre, mood
- Title: write it the way artists search, for example
FREE] Travis Scott Type Beat - "Midnight". Our free [type beat title generator builds it for you. - Tags: mix artist names, mood and genre. BeatStars itself suggests going after niche artists from Spotify's "Fans also like" section, not only the biggest names. Our type beat tag generator gives you tags ready to paste.
- Key and BPM: BeatStars detects them automatically after upload. Check them anyway.
- Genre, mood, instruments: artists filter by these, so pick the most specific option.
How the BeatStars upload works (4 steps)
- In BeatStars Studio, go to My Content → Tracks and click + Add Track.
- Files & basic info: drop your untagged file, tagged MP3 and stems, then add the title and artwork.
- Metadata and collaborators: genre, mood, tags, and splits if you made the beat with someone.
- Monetization: set the price of each license, from Basic to Exclusive, then publish.
BeatStars also has an Autofill Metadata button to reuse a template, handy when you upload a lot.
